What viscose knit means for wholesale buyers
Melani Basic bodysuit cards list 95% viscose / 5% elastane. A knit structure marks less under a second layer; weight, width and colour fastness are measured at intake. Per-style values sit on the catalogue card.
The main Melani Basic cloth is viscose knit. Bodysuit cards list 95% viscose / 5% elastane; tunic and slip cards are read per style. A knit marks less under a second layer than a woven. Weight, width and colour fastness are measured at fabric intake; a roll that does not match the card does not go to cutting.
Why viscose, why knit?
Viscose is a fibre that breathes in daily wear. Elastane lets a fitted bodysuit block return after movement. Together they give a soft hand for a piece that sits under a jacket or shirt.
Knit fabric rests before it is cut; a shrinkage test sees length and width loss after wash before the block is laid. That lowers the risk of a bodysuit that shortens after the first wash in store. Cloth that fails the test does not go onto a block.
This post does not claim a general laboratory mark or ISO certificate. The numbers live on the lot and the card.
What to read on the catalogue card
Every style has a fabric line on the catalogue card. The 95 / 5 repeat on bodysuits means the hand stays in that line. For tunics and slips, read the card; “mainly viscose” does not mean every style shares the same blend.
Three figures a buyer can ask for:
- Weight — hand and drape
- Width — cutting plan and waste
- Colour fastness — shade drift inside a lot
Current lot measurements move with stock; a screen is not the colour reference.
What a wholesale buyer should ask
Line, style code and quantity are enough on a first note. When cloth is the subject, add:
- A shade check against a previous lot of the same code
- How plus-size ease behaves in that cloth
- A paid sample held next to the card
Samples are requested on the form, as in the first-order post. Rail planning is in the assortment post.
After the carton leaves
Carton standard is pack as well as cloth: 6 standard, 4 plus size, 100 pieces on the order. A rejected piece does not enter a carton.
Care text changes by style and lot; this post does not publish a wash temperature. Read the store label against the confirmation.
Fabric and stock questions go through the contact form. Production stays in Sakarya / Kocaali, in our own workshop since 1996.
Common questions
Short answers from this post
- What is the Melani bodysuit fabric?
95% viscose / 5% elastane on the card. It is a knit.
- Is every line the same blend?
No. That blend is common on the bodysuit row. Tunics and slips are read from the card.
- Why does weight matter?
Hand, drape and mark-through depend on it. The card and fabric intake carry the number.
- Can I approve colour on a screen?
No. Colour is read in a light box and on a sample. If the roll does not match the card, it is not cut.
- Do you run a shrinkage test?
Yes. The knit rests; length and width loss after wash is measured before cutting.
- Do you publish a certificate?
This post is shop-floor and card information. It does not claim a general ISO mark. Lot measurements are shared when a buyer asks.
